What Are Good Carbs--Have Your Cake And Eat It, Too
In your search for a list of good carbs , it is easy to weed out some of the obvious bad choices. It would be nice if we could maintain healthy lifestyles on a diet of only the things we find most appealing. Unfortunately, that's just not a feasible approach, but, it doesn't have to be a matter of all or nothing.
Take, for example, the following example of a crazy diet called the "C" food diet. The choices are pretty tasty, but, as you can imagine, success is sabotaged by a list that includes candy, chocolate, cake, cookies, chips and coffee. If only it were that easy. Well, it just might be if you remember that carbs , like anything else, require portion control. If you look at it in this way, the "C" food diet might not be such a bad idea. All it needs is a little tweaking from its current regime.
Unfortunately, we cannot partake in unending portions of the "C" food diet limitations, but, looking on the bright side tells us that a diet that allows a "healthy" amount of the "C" food options leads to a bigger success. Deprivation is never the right choice.
No carbs is not the answer to the question what are good carbohydrates? It's all about our choices. So, go ahead and incorporate a few chips or a few pieces of candy into your program. There are many low carb options available in the candy and chip aisle of your grocery story. And, it's even okay to have the more caloric choices if you pace yourself and practice portion control.
As long as you keep your goals in mind, a creative approach to finding good carbs is the way to go. Look toward the future with an open mind that allows for some variation especially during the tougher times such as holidays or other special occasions. As the old cliche says,
YOU CAN HAVE YOUR CAKE AND EAT IT, TOO.
