Low Carbohydrate Food

Low carbohydrate food: Is it really a better choice? That depends on the low carbohydrate food you're thinking about getting, which is precisely what we are here to help you figure out.

Low Carbohydrate Food Is Something You Really Should Consider

The convenience of low carbohydrate food

Being on a low carb diet means you have to do a lot of planning ahead for meals. Inevitably, you're going to have days where things don't exactly go according to plan though. That's where low carbohydrate food like low carb shakes and low carb bars come in handy. Atkins has a line of Endulge bars in various flavors that have been taste tested and come out ahead in many of those tests.

As far as low carb shakes, well, that all depends on your expectation. Generally, a shake is made with milk and has a smooth, creamy texture. But most low carb shakes that you grab on the go are more like flavored water. Just keep that in mind so you aren't disappointed with this particular choice.

Keep this information about low carbohydrate food in mind the next time you head to the store. Happy shopping! Okay, so you've completed the "induction phase" (the first two weeks) of your low carbohydrate diet, and right about now, you're getting sick of meat, cheese and eggs, even though at the start of your diet you never thought that would happen!

But you've seen low carbohydrate food in the grocery store, and you're curious about low carb shakes and bars. Well, now's the time to explore these options. One word of advice though--read the labels!

Is Low Carbohydrate Food Beneficial?

That depends on how disciplined you are. Technically, on a low carbohydrate diet, bread isn't allowed. But increasingly, you see low carb breads at the grocery store. Atkins even makes some! The Atkins version has 8 grams of carbs per slice, but regular bread has 10 grams of carbs per slice. That's really not much of a difference. And that's just one example of the carbohydrate count in these so-called low carbohydrate foods.

If you're not on a low carb diet, low carb foods might still sound appealing because you assume that low carb equals low calorie. But these foods often have added fiber, fat and/or artificial sweeteners to compensate for the missing flavor that the carbs provided. So even though a certain food is labeled as a low carbohydrate food, it could still be loaded with calories.
